Recon-net
Yahoo Group Privacy Policies and Operational Notes:
July 22, 2001
New members and usage:
- New
members will be added with permission only. Yahoo will send a confirming message to the email address
you provide (you’ll need to reply to confirm). The moderator must then confirm the membership before it
becomes active.
- Recon-net
email list members and full group members can send email to the group
list. Messages from others will
not be accepted by the system.
Privacy:
- Email
addresses are kept private. Full
members of the Recon-net Yahoo group can see only the first part of other
member’s addresses in the directory.
Email-only members and non-members have no access.
- Full
Recon-net group members can send email to other individual members using a
form Yahoo provides on the group web site. Yahoo will automatically fill in the hidden part of the
other member’s address, thus keeping the other member’s address
private.
- Keep
in mind that when you actually send or reply to a message, your email
address will appear as the “From:” address, as with any normal email
message. It is expected you will
not share other member’s email addresses without permission.
Criteria for membership and sharing web password:
- Only
individuals who are known to the group and who are actively involved in
Recon-net activities, or who are on the membership roster maintained by
Recon-net leaders will be allowed to join the email list or the Yahoo
group. Where there are questions
the moderator will seek confirmation from other active members or from
Recon-net leadership. Recon-net
leadership has final say.
- All
members should apply the same criteria when sharing the web site document
password. Do not share the
password over the air. Give it
only in person, by phone, or by email; and only to individuals actively involved
in Recon-net activities.
Issue resolution:
- Individuals
who violate these provisions or disrupt group activities will be removed
from the group. Recon-net
leadership has final say in resolving any issues that may arise.
